i'm glad i met you, camera.

you make me a better. braver person.

I can't say I am good at this, but definitely I am getting along well with my camera .

It must be because of the internship, I get to use my camera almost weekly, if not every other day. Just yesterday, I went into the backstage of a play the arts programming csb|sju is having these two weeks --- Macbeth.

It was an experience I looked forward to almost all semester. I knew the pictures from the play would help my portfolio and the project I am working on. It's something I didn't want to miss.
For couple months now I emailed the actor who is playing Macbeth on and off. I emailed him again last week asking about rehearsals. He told me, "since the play already opened, we don't do rehearsals anymore."
Ok.
So I contacted the stage manager last week and  the assistant director as soon as I could.
No response.
Finally I emailed the director and she suggested me visiting the crew on Thursday.
I couldn't go on Thursday
So I went in and tried to find the dressing room anyways last night. Just me and my camera. First thing as I opened the door, I got questioned by one of the casts if I was from the Record.
"No, but your director knows I am coming."
She was Lady Macbeth later I found out.
"Well, you better find her first."
I tried to find the director, but no luck, she wasn't in her office.
I stood at the hallway for couple minutes and went inside .

"Do you mind if I take you guys pictures?"

"No!" "Not at all" "Go ahead!"
"Sure, I guess." Lady Macbeth said.
I'm just happy I went in and didn't let Lady Macbeth stop me.

bookmark

You know what I have been doing when I am on the world wide web? I bookmark sites I'd like to go back and spend more time on them later. It could be an engagement shoot I really like; it could be a sets of inspirational links I wanted to check out;  it could also be 1000 more flickr sites I want to study and learn more about....etc.

But you know, as much I want to read all of the blog posts in my Google reader, I can't keep track of every tumblr posts, ffffound pictures, tweets, facebook statuses, flickr uploads and youtube [baidu/tudou] videos.

I wish I have more time in a day, so I can write some emails or skype people (aka talk to them in real life, almost as Chris reminded me yesterday on facebook chat while I was skyping Mary).

I can't do those things all the time because I have homework, classes, job(s), roommates, most importantly A LIFE.

La Vie. Beautiful beautiful la vie. Not to mention the weather is been getting warmer here.

[Bookmark my blog if you don't have time to read the whole thing]

time, could you slow down a bit?

(taken in february by a friend)

Doesn't the color of the picture make you feel like it's taken by film? It's not.

Alice in the Wonderland

Alice: This is impossible.
The Mad Hatter: Only if you believe it is.
I enjoyed it so much, the encouragement from Alice and
the White Queen was what I needed last week.

I will keep updating some more with the blog,
time is flying so fast and the more I let myself stay away from blogging,
I think this blog will be mold soon or later..

Guess what? I got my cap and gown today. It IS happening!

:D

[ real smile, and scary fake smile.]

let me tell you the scarier parts of my chicago trip next time...xoxo

around chicago

the second day of chicago trip, we went to the millennium
park and visited the art institute of Chicago.

the institute was having a "free february" deal, so we got to see some
awesome photographs and art for free,
but it was so packed that we left earlier than we hoped.

that same day we also went to the navy pier and went home for mcdonalds.
that night, diana and i watched adam and thought it was very interesting...

fun fact: diana's friend who we were able to stay with bought us a
pretty big bucket of ice-cream. we ate it all as we finished the movie.

stuffed!

i am finally not procrastinating anymore today on my homework,
got so much done! (but still got a lot, eesh...)
anyways, here are my chicago posts for the family!^^

this was the first day of our trip..
we (window) shopped around downtown,
and ate our lunch at this famous pizza place...

like most of the famous places, we had to wait. for a while.
so i took some pictures to kill some time.
fun fact:  i think my photo style changed a little  after my internship training. :)

here is my friend alberta from hk that i was able to meet up in chicago
(actually she used to live couple floors below me, and we went to the same high
school and went to same class for two years)

45 minute later. Ta-da!

Here is our a spinach stuffed pizza.
And we only ordered the spinach stuffed pizza.
It was so great, and it costs us only $7 each. Pretty amazing.

Chicago 2010

you are the first ones who see this sets of chicago photos!

it was another windy day in chicago when we took this picture...

i wore two jackets, but it was still pretty windy to walk around...
we spent saturday morning until monday evening in chicago...
we thought we did most of everything in chicago (during winter)

every new friend we met told us we should have visited chicago
in the summer, because there are much more things to do...

such as, going to parks (lay on the grass and look at clouds or stars)
going to the lake shore beaches (and play with the sunshine)
walk around downtown...(and have a pizza or hot dog)

they said it's not too hot in summer...it's almost perfect there..

but, diana and i were there for our spring break in march...
everything was still snowy!
(while in st. joseph, a place where winter is usually longer than
everywhere else, was surprisingly warmer than chicago!)

anyhow, we did as much as we can sight-seeing wise...
and had a gooooood time in the wind city.

Chicago 05'

(it was in construction or something)

(outside the space museum)

all the exchange student children (with two host sisters) hopped on a bus and went to chicago for a weekend. it was fun and i only remember these things below :
  • exchange student children from germany looooooved becky ;)
  • the pink boots i was wearing in the pictures were new from chicago gap kids.
  • we rode the ferris wheel and we all signed our names somewhere.
  • we rode a limousine.
  • we ate dinner at the rainforest restaurant.
  • the bean was in construction and no one was really ice skating.
  • the view from the hancock building was great, but my digital camera was not.
  • becky's eye got an infection, but luckily her contacts helped a little.
  • i was young, silly and chubby.

survived!

my weekend in Chicago with my friend Diana was a lot of fun.
a lot of things happened, and finally i get to take pictures of something i want! haha.

also, i might try to dig out pictures i took in Chicago 4/5 years ago
(that Becky and I went together!)

perhaps saying i survived is a little exaggerated, but it's close...
